Sick? Know your Optionsadmin2019-04-05T02:12:43+00:00

SICK? KNOW YOUR OPTIONS

sick know your options

In Canada, your health is your responsibility. While doctors are there to help you, a lot of what they do is limited to the formula ‘Listen to the patient –> Prescribe Medication/Test/Surgery’. Many doctors are very good people with golden hearts. However, they functions within the System and cannot deviate from it because otherwise they risk losing their licence. Unfortunately, this system is ‘sickcare’ more than it is ‘healthcare’. So, it is your personal responsibility to understand this system and what you can do to find the best treatment for yourself.

Emergencies and Acute Severe Pain

In this situation, call 911. Say the name of the language you speak and they will find somebody to help you. Ambulance will come and take you to the hospital. Or, if you are able, it is better to get to the hospital yourself – ambulance can charge you a lot of money if your case is not a real emergency.

Strong Pain of Unknown Origin

Go to a walk-in clinic or to a similar place where you can see a doctor immediately. They can help you understand what is happening and will recommend if you need to go to a hospital. They will most likely prescribe medication.

If the pain continues, you will need to go see your family doctor and do some tests to get a diagnosis. Some walk-in clinics will do the tests and give you the diagnosis as well.

Chronic Pain

Your doctor will prescribe you some medication based on your symptoms. Unfortunately, most medication do not treat your problem – they just make the symptoms, such as pain, go away.

Examples of Chronic Conditions:

  • arthritis
  • diabetes
  • high blood pressure
  • IBS/IBD
  • anxiety
  • osteoporosis
  • cancer
  • depression
  • diverticulitis
  • lower back pain
  • menopause

There are many more chronic conditions but we are not going to list all of them here.

After you have been diagnosed with a chronic condition, you must do your own research to try to find a cure. If you don’t want to be sick for the rest of your life, you need to work together with your doctor and look for what else can help you. Remember: your doctor cannot give certain advice to you because, if they do, they might lose their job.

Finding other treatment options

1. Google search the name of you condition followed by the words ‘natural treatment, natural remedies, alternative treatment, home remedies, nutrition, natural cures’, etc.

2. Youtube search (again: your condition and natural remedies, food, nutrition, treatment, etc.)

3. Youtube: you can find some alternative doctors’ advice on youtube as well. Some suggestions are Dr. John Bergman, Dr. Eric Berg, Dr. Robert Lustig.

Examples of Alternative Treatments:

  • nutrition therapy
  • naturopathic medicine
  • acupuncture
  • herbal medicine
  • physiotherapy
  • ayurveda
  • traditional Chinese medicine
  • accupressure
  • massage therapy
  • aromatherapy
  • chiropractor
  • hypnotherapy
  • chelation therapy
  • yoga
  • energy therapy

There are more but we are not going to list all of them here.

Most chronic conditions are completely reversible. However, the pharmaceutical industry doesn’t want you to know this – they want you to become their client for life. Look for success stories online and find out how other people cured their ‘chronic’ conditions.
